Why January 14 is once in a lifetime
On January 14, all of Ahmedabad moves to its rooftops. From sunrise, thousands of kites fill the sky over the old city, flyers duel with glass-coated string, and every kite cut down sets off a shout of “Kai po che!” across the terraces. After dark, paper lanterns drift up and fireworks take over. It is the one day a year the whole city looks up.
DAY 1
January 13th
Check in, then a cultural evening
- Afternoon: Report directly to the hotel and check in (transportation from the airport to the hotel can be provided upon request).
- Evening: A high-end cultural program at Evoke Centre for Arts, with dinner.
DAY 2
January 14th
Uttarayan on a private terrace
- A full day on a private terrace in the old city, with transfers from the hotel. Lunch, snacks and dinner are included.
DAY 3
January 15th
By road to Rajkot
- Hotel pickup for the drive to Rajkot, about 4 to 5 hours (roughly 220 km).
